Matrix (M) Proteins

Structure of RSV M protein

We have examined the factors that control the activity of key membrane proteins from enveloped viruses, with a long-term goal of identifying new targets for antiviral therapies. Work to date has mostly been conducted on matrix (M) proteins.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) M Protein

In collaboration with Dr V. A. Money and Dr R. P. Yeo, we examined the structure and membrane activity of the RSV matrix (M) and related proteins. We solved the crystal structure of this protein and revealed that the interfacial behaviour of the protein is dependent on the lipid composition of the membrane. (more)
