The following movie shows two liposomes held in optical traps. The bottom liposome (indicated with the red arrow) is composed of a mixture of egg phosphatidyl choline (EPC) the commercial transfection agent Lipofectin® and is labelled with a fluorescent lipid. The top liposome (indicated with the green arrow) is composed of neutral phospholipids (EPC) and is unlabelled.  After a short period of being held together in the optical trap, the liposomes are separated and a small amount of fluorescent lipid has been transferred to the unlabelled liposome.
